Pourquoi KatangaVox aujourd’hui ?
KatangaVox ranime un nom historique pour dénoncer l’injustice, documenter les abus des droits humains et contrer la désinformation en temps réel. Ancré dans le passé du Katanga, il exige des comptes, combat la corruption et inscrit ses ressources dans la transition énergétique mondiale.
Un nom hérité de l’histoire
Dans l’histoire du Katanga, plusieurs médias ont porté le nom « La Voix du Katanga ». Chaque fois, il s’agissait de se lever pour montrer au monde les problèmes du Katanga. Il s’agissait essentiellement de faire valoir les injustices subies. Il était aussi question d’informer le monde du travail abattu localement au Katanga, dans le domaine de la production en général et, le plus souvent, de la production minière. Autour de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le nom du Katanga avait déjà atteint une renommée internationale, car ses ressources alimentaient plusieurs compagnies industrielles mondiales produisant des produits finis à partir de ses matières premières, au moment même où le cuivre et le cobalt devenaient de plus en plus indispensables au développement industriel mondial. Par ailleurs, le mot « Vox », issu du latin, était employé dans quelques écoles et sur certaines radios scolaires. Il y était question de donner la parole aux jeunes, en particulier à ceux engagés dans les secteurs vitaux, afin de démontrer leur capacité à accomplir des miracles sociaux.
Une scène nationale et internationale à visage découvert
Le choix de ce nom répond à toutes les logiques évoquées ci-haut, démontrant une démarche à la fois historique et circonstanciée. Cependant, il va plus loin en plaçant sur la scène publique nationale et internationale des faits sociaux véridiques, combinant des exploits exponentiels et des questionnements sur la brutalité humaine sans fondement cohérent, par rapport à une entité régionale dont le travail humain et les ressources naturelles influencent la marche du monde. Le Katanga se retrouve aujourd’hui à la même croisée des chemins où ses ressources naturelles sont plus valorisées que les êtres humains dont les ancêtres ont toujours vécu sur les mêmes terres. Plus que jamais, plusieurs scènes témoignent d’une mise en scène inspirée par l’ouvrage du célèbre auteur américain George Orwell, La ferme des animaux. On y voit comment des animaux s’improvisent et se déclarent plus de la junte animale que les autres, dont le travail est exploité sans honte ni vergogne, et dont la vie ne tient qu’à un fil décidé par les imposteurs.

De l’héritage historique à la plateforme numérique
KatangaVox a donc l’ambition légitime de puiser son inspiration dans un passé historique assumé pour marquer son utilité au monde contemporain. La seule grande différence sera sans doute que les médias du passé katangais tournaient essentiellement autour du papier journal et des ondes courtes, des radios très rares de l’époque. KatangaVox s’adapte à son temps et lance un site Internet qui évolue en temps réel et affiche les soucis et les exploits du Katanga, tout en recueillant les informations les plus pertinentes. Par ailleurs, KatangaVox contredira en temps réel les fausses informations tendancieuses, ainsi que toutes celles qui viseront à dénaturer la vérité.
Documenter les abus, défendre les droits humains
KatangaVox encouragera toutes les informations dont le premier objectif sera la libération des fils et des filles du Katanga du carcan de toute forme de soumission absurde, idéologique et sociale visant à annihiler le passé et le présent au profit d’un imaginaire inventé de toutes pièces, au détriment des valeurs fondamentales humaines. Dans cette perspective, KatangaVox prêtera une attention particulière aux abus constatés en matière de droits humains. Il sera question d’y documenter les incidents observés de jour comme de nuit sur toute l’étendue du Katanga, qui avilissent l’être humain dans ce qui lui est le plus cher et le plus sacré : la vie. Les brutalités de tous genres, commises par les instances militaires, policières, paramilitaires et autres rattachées à divers échelons du pouvoir, seront non seulement documentées, mais aussi mises en lumière pour leur caractère inhumain.
Rattraper le temps perdu
Les droits humains couvrent plusieurs domaines de la vie sociale et accompagnent le quotidien. Plusieurs formes d’injustice se retrouvent ainsi sous cette appellation et incluent souvent des secteurs qui passeraient facilement inaperçus dans un pays souvent soumis au diktat de personnes et de groupes mal intentionnés. Mais, au-delà de tout cela, KatangaVox se forcera à mettre en lumière la direction qui pourra déjà aider à rattraper le temps perdu depuis l’indépendance du pays, parce que les priorités n’ont pas été placées dans les secteurs vitaux.
Intégrité, transition énergétique et ouverture au monde
La corruption sous toutes ses formes sera éradiquée, tandis que les bonnes initiatives seront mises en valeur afin de promouvoir le Katanga dans des couleurs favorables à son épanouissement et à sa participation de plus en plus justifiée, ainsi qu’à la transition énergétique mondiale. Dans ces conditions, KatangaVox assume la responsabilité héritée des éclaireurs d’un passé historique tout en l’adaptant aux besoins et aux réalités actuels. En effet, le Katanga n’a jamais été une entité isolée. Elle a toujours été connectée au monde sans prêter trop d’attention à ses réalités locales. KatangaVox s’engage à amplifier la connexion au monde en y apportant sa contribution la mieux avérée, ses ressources et en acceptant les réflexions et contributions qui favorisent les êtres humains, les Katangais et d’autres vivant sur son sol, dont le sous-sol regorge de réponses à apporter à la transition énergétique mondiale dont le monde a besoin aujourd’hui. A name inherited from history
Throughout Katanga’s history, several media outlets have carried the name “The Voice of Katanga.” Each time, the purpose was the same: to stand up and show the world Katanga’s struggles. It was, above all, about giving voice to the injustices endured. It was also about informing the world of the work accomplished locally in Katanga, in production generally and, most often, in mining production specifically. Around the time of the Second World War, Katanga’s name had already achieved international renown, as its resources supplied numerous global industrial companies manufacturing finished goods from its raw materials, precisely as copper and cobalt were becoming ever more indispensable to global industrial development. Separately, the word “Vox,” from Latin, was used in certain schools and on some school radio stations. There, the aim was to give young people a voice, particularly those engaged in vital sectors, to demonstrate their capacity to achieve social miracles.
A national and international stage, unmasked
The choice of this name follows all the logic described above, reflecting an approach that is both historical and grounded in present circumstances. Yet it goes further, placing on the national and international public stage truthful social facts, combining extraordinary achievements with hard questions about a human brutality that has no coherent basis, given a regional entity whose human labour and natural resources shape the course of the world. Katanga today finds itself at the same crossroads as before: its natural resources are valued more highly than the human beings whose ancestors have always lived on this same land. More than ever, many scenes bring to mind the imagery of the celebrated American author George Orwell’s Animal Farm. We see how certain animals set themselves up and declare themselves superior members of the animal junta over the others, whose labour is exploited without shame or restraint, and whose lives hang only by a thread controlled by the impostors.

From historical legacy to a digital platform
KatangaVox therefore has the legitimate ambition of drawing on an acknowledged historical past to assert its relevance to today’s world. The one major difference will undoubtedly be that Katanga’s media of the past revolved essentially around newspaper print and shortwave broadcasts, the very rare radios of that era. KatangaVox is adapting to its time, launching a website that updates in real time and reports on Katanga’s troubles and its achievements, while gathering the most relevant information. Furthermore, KatangaVox will counter, in real time, false and biased information, as well as anything intended to distort the truth.
Documenting abuses, defending human rights
KatangaVox will champion all information whose first objective is freeing the sons and daughters of Katanga from every form of absurd ideological and social submission aimed at erasing the past and present for the benefit of a wholly invented narrative, to the detriment of fundamental human values. With this in mind, KatangaVox will pay particular attention to human-rights abuses observed. It will document incidents witnessed day and night across the entire territory of Katanga, incidents that degrade human beings in what is most precious and sacred to them: life itself. Brutality of every kind, committed by military, police, paramilitary forces and other actors attached to various levels of power, will not only be documented but also exposed for its inhumane character.
Making up for lost time
Human rights touch on many areas of social life and are woven into daily existence. Many forms of injustice fall under this term and often include matters that would easily go unnoticed in a country frequently subjected to the dictates of ill-intentioned individuals and groups. But beyond all this, KatangaVox will make it a point to highlight the direction that can already help make up for the time lost since the country’s independence, time lost because priorities were never placed in the vital sectors.
Integrity, the energy transition and openness to the world
Corruption in all its forms will be eradicated, while good initiatives will be showcased to present Katanga in a favourable light, one that supports its development and its increasingly justified role, including its part in the global energy transition. In these conditions, KatangaVox takes up the responsibility inherited from the pathfinders of a historic past while adapting it to today’s needs and realities. Indeed, Katanga has never been an isolated entity. It has always been connected to the world, without paying enough attention to its own local realities. KatangaVox commits to strengthening that connection to the world by contributing its most proven assets and resources, and by welcoming ideas and contributions that benefit human beings, Katangans and others living on its soil, whose subsoil holds many of the answers the world needs today for the global energy transition.
